The sad news that a fatal two-car accident had occurred in Wilmington on Christmas Day has hit the community. The cause of the collision and how many people were involved have yet to be revealed. The incident took place on West Harry Bridges Boulevard near 1100 South Street.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, at least one person has died as a result of the incident, but no additional information is available at this time.
According to the LAPD, one automobile, driven by a man in his 40s, was heading southbound on King Avenue and intended to make a righthand turn onto Harry Bridges Boulevard when the driver of another vehicle slammed into him, resulting in his death at the scene.
The individual at fault for the collision was detained by authorities on suspicion of driving under the influence, but no suspect description has been released. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, people were trapped inside their cars.
An overturned truck and a red Dodge Charger were among the vehicles involved, according to police. Both sides of Harry Bridges as well as the northbound 110 Freeway exit were placed on lockdown by LAPD to prevent further car accidents.
